It was my cousin's convocation today (
everyone on my mom's side of the family went to waterloo, minus the one guy that's going to laurier O_o) so my mom and a couple other relatives came up. they got here a bit after 12, so we went out to st. jacob's for lunch. we were going to pick up my other waterloo cousin as well (not the graduating one), but when he heard we were going to st. jacob's, he just kinda rolled back into bed.... he's one of the smarter ones in the family, hehe. st. jacob's is a farmer's market just on the north edge of waterloo, so the only real reason to go there is for grocery shopping -_-;; fruit and veggie shopping, to be precise, hehe. they've got a lot more stuff there than fruits and stuff, like the flea market, and they do have a food court, but the main attraction is the cheap fruit/veggie stuffs.
have i mentioned that i hate shopping? i'm okay with shopping if i'm looking to get a present for someone, or if i'm in need of clothes or something like that, but grocery shopping??? uuugh.
anyhow, while we were there, i went and bought a candied apple, cause i've been wanting to try one ever since i first watched mary poppins, hehee ^^. i ate it after i got back to my dorm, and hence discovered that it is indeed as messy as people say it is. but not nearly as bad as my mom made it sound, hehe. my mom doesn't like candied apples because the apple part gets all mushy, and she likes her apples crisp&crunchy, but i think it tasted alright.
after wandering the farmer's market half of st. jacobs for a good long while, we switched over to the outlet mall side..... more shopping
. and kitchen-ware shopping at that, which is even worse than fruit shopping, cause you can't eat plates. my aunt wanted to explore the rest of the mall after our venture into corningware, but quite luckily we were reminded that it was getting kinda late, seeing as the convocation business started at 2, and it was 2:50. don't you love chinese time? hehe. but this lateness was intentional, since we didn't expect cousin #1 to be called up for a long while, and we didn't want to sit through an hour of introductions and names we don't know. but of course as luck would have it, by the time we'd picked up sleepy cousin #2 and gotten back on campus, cousin #1 had already been called and received his degree ^^;;. there was still a good half hour left in the ceremony, but we just kinda dragged out cousin #1 and family, and did the whole picture business. man, i really don't want to have to sit through that convocation business when my 5 years are up... so loooong .
that was my day, more or less. extreme moments of boredom, but overall a lot more interesting than hanging around my room all day. get out for some fresh air and new scenery and all.
speaking of fresh air, i think beo's keeping dead stuff in her trunk O_o
